Platforms
Choose the host platform for an autograph workstation. Linux is the primary supported path; macOS and Windows through WSL2 have received targeted validation.
Linux
Linux is the primary development and validation platform. Install Git, Docker Engine with the Compose v2 plugin, and Task, then follow the nominal Get started sequence.
macOS
macOS has received targeted validation with a Docker-compatible runtime, but has less field coverage than Linux. Confirm the selected runtime with task augr:engine:diagnos:docker before starting a project.
If the runtime exposes a non-standard Compose command, configure it through the Compose runtimes page.
Windows through WSL2
Use a WSL2 Linux distribution rather than a native Windows checkout. Clone the project on the WSL2 filesystem, for example ~/Dev/, not under /mnt/c/, to avoid the Windows-mounted filesystem I/O penalty.
- Start the Docker daemon with the init mechanism available on the workstation; on some corporate images this is
sudo service docker startrather than systemd. - Windows proxy variables are not inherited by Linux. Configure the Linux shell before
task admin:setup. - For a corporate proxy or TLS inspection, continue with Corporate proxy and Custom CA certificates.
Verify the workstation
Run the platform and Compose diagnostic before creating or updating a stack:
task augr:engine:diagnos:docker It reports the detected platform, configured Compose command and version, and warns when a WSL2 checkout is under /mnt/c/.
